Each year thousands of you choose to take the plunge and enter the exciting world of further education. Whether it’s to learn a new skill for personal advantage, gain an accreditation for work or develop the necessary expertise for re-entering the workforce, the Which Course Dublin Expo 2008 is the place to find the right course for you in the easiest, most straightforward fashion.
When is it? Taking place on Saturday 6th September and Sunday 7th September 2008 from 10am to 5pm.
Where will it be held? In the Serpentine Hall of the RDS, Dublin 4 - a central location with convenient access to bus and DART services. Ample parking facilities will also be available.
Sounds great, but how much will it cost? Absolutely free!
Do I just show up or what? Yes you can; or alternatively go to www.whichcourse.ie where, upon registering, you will receive a printable e-ticket. Bring this along with you on the big day and you will be able to skip the queue and walk (sniggering past the crowd) through the pre-registration entrance. Registration is free, quick and easy; all you will have to do is enter your name and details. By doing this you will be entitled to vouchers for refreshments at the event, entry into competitions for great prizes and receive a floor plan and a promotional bag stuffed full of exciting goodies! Sounds like the smart choice…you have up until the 5th September to register.
Who will be there? The Expo is the only exhibition for Further Learning, Career Development and Self-Development in Dublin and the surrounding countries so anyone over the age of 18 interested in enrolling in a course is expected to attend. This will include those seeking to return to work after a break, those hoping to develop their career or those with a view to pursuing a new leisure activity.
Talking to the course providers firsthand is a great way of finding out exactly what the course will involve, what you will gain from it and if it will suit you and your needs.
The course providers will include anyone offering Adult Education courses in 2008/09; including Irish Universities, Institutes of Technology, Private Colleges, State Owned Institutions, Business Schools, Language Institutions and Cultural Institutions; no organisation is too big or small, meaning that you will get a great idea of the many diverse range of options available.
Sounds very crowded, how will I find what I want? Very easily. In order to maximise accessibility the hall will be divided into four distinct, colour coded sections. Go to General Education if you’re after career progression and academic achievement; there will be plenty of course providers there to give you advice and information.
If you’re considering a return to the workforce after a career break or maternity leave make your way to the Back to the Workforce section, where you will find a myriad of courses that will help you to up skill and equip yourself on your triumphant return to the workplace.
The Health, Well-Being & Personal Development section will boast a diverse number of stands catering for those who are interested in enrolling in courses such as Holistic Health, Self-Development, Yoga and Beauty. Experts in the field will be present to explain the different avenues open to you.
If you’re thinking about picking up a new hobby then hot foot it to the Arts, Crafts & Leisure area where you will be amazed and inspired by the variety of courses on offer.
What else? If you think you want to do a course but are unsure how motivated/interested you are the Expo is a great place to test the waters. A special seminar area will be designated to learning about new activities; so if you continually compare your idle doodling to the mastery of Picasso…here’s your chance to ask the experts. All kinds of craziness and fun will be going on including arts, crafts and massage.
